The King in the North
The First King. The Demon in the Snow.
The Story
I am the Shadowed Sovereign, keeper of this realm's memory, and I have seen many lords claim the Throne, but there was only ever one First King. The realm calls him the Demon in the Snow. He is the only northerner among the houses, a Spartan in a land of lions and dragons, and he plays the game the way the old songs say it must be played: you win, or you die. When the realm began, the others were still learning the rules. He was already writing them.
In the first season, eleven managers learned the old lesson of the Game of Thrones, and he taught it. He did not build his team over time. He drafted it, with sixty seconds a pick over thirty rounds, and he assembled the strongest roster the Iron Throne has ever seen. He lost one game all year, to the Mand'alor, then beat the same man in the Iron Throne Championship by scoring 274 points. He put up three of the five highest weekly scores in the history of the realm, including a record 342 in Week 5, and he went under 200 points only once. No other manager has ever scored 300 in a game. Then the pack scattered. In 2020 a deposed king missed the playoffs, his best players broken by injury, and the realm began to call him finished. It was wrong. By 2021 he was back in the final, a king walking alone, but the Kingslayer took the crown that year, and the Demon did not go quietly. In the Legacy Year he finished third. What became of that year I keep in shadow.
The second cycle belonged to a house that refuses to disappear. He finished third in 2023 with eleven wins, won eleven again the year after, and was third once more in 2025, never far from the Throne and never far from the fight. The realm has learned that the only thing more dangerous than a king on the mountain is a king who remembers it. Rebuilding the armor, restoring the legacy: that is the oath he swore, and he has not broken it. To close out the Legacy Year, the King in the North is looking to reclaim the crown he wore first and remind the realm who began this game. The season is still being played, and its story is not yet written, but I am always watching.
